The phases of a real AR roll-out: corporate and customers

Each day our customers’ technicians are dispatched to perform complex processes for installation, configuration and maintenance of mission critical telecommunication equipment. In order to support customers in 140 countries, including 45 of the world’s 50 largest telecoms operators, Huawei technical documentation teams prepare, publish and support delivery of digital instructions to technicians to ensure the complete and error-free performance of procedures.

Huawei Technical Communication Innovation and Best Practices Department is developing processes across five product lines to add Augmented Reality in a consistent and robust manner as a delivery mechanism for product technical documentation. In this talk we will describe our project goals, our four phase approach and demos sharing our results. The audience will hear directly from one of Huawei’s product line technical communication departments about their use case for using AR and VR to engage customers at exhibitions while working with Marketing. The product line will also discuss customer engagement and testing of the experiences during the design process as well as the impact AR/VR has had on sales and the overall customer experience.

What can attendees expect to learn?

The audience will learn how to take a phased approach to rolling out Augmented Reality (AR) both internally to their stakeholders/funders and technical communication team as well as externally to socialize the technology to their customers. They will see the demonstrated results and hear about internal and external customer reactions to information products delivered via AR. They will hear about the consistent approach applied across different product lines for efficiency and cost savings as well as the time saving benefits and efficiency gains that AR brings to customers. The audience will also learn how one team used AR and VR to help out the Marketing and Sales teams for their product line.
